Huge congratulations to Kvido Maštalíř from Masaryk Secondary School of Chemistry who has won the 1st place at the school level of "Středoškolská odborná činnost" (SOČ), the contest for young Czech science talents! 

His project about the interaction between titanosilicalite framework and metal nanoparticles was carried out in our group Heterogenerous Catalysis and Advanced Materials under the supervision of Samuel Kolesár. Group bio

As a high school student, Kvido already has real experience in the lab and at the electron microscope (certified operator of JEOL microscope). He prepared the samples, imaged them and analyzed how tiny metal nanoparticles interact with the zeolite framework with titanium in it. This knowledge helps in designing better catalysts for greener and more sustainable chemistry.

This is only the beginning. The story continues, and the school-level win starts the fight for the best possible place in the next rounds of the contest.
